Cap 1.8.0.0 - captchas updates for Elephant (Rapidshare downloader)

Posted in Software by FoxHound on April 17th, 2008

New version of Cap is out 16/04/2008, this time RS has lost their mind with this CAT shit.

Rapidshare makes changes to its captchas very often , makes it essential to update Elephant captchas images. Although there is an update mechanism in Elephant for updating its capchas,  it is out of date from time to time.

Here I give you the latest capchas available to update your Elephant.

Want to copy files fast? Meet CopyHandler!

Posted in Software by FoxHound on March 26th, 2008

Few posts before I’ve suggested using TeraCopy as a file copy handler Windows.

After a while I’ve noticed its cons. The major one is that it takes

TeraCopy a few seconds to initiate the file transfer. This caused copying or moving a bunch of links for example the take a lot more then it should.

Now I have a new favorite, an open-source software called CopyHandler. although it has an ugly GUI, it’s fast and highly configurable as opposed to TeraCopy.

Copy Handler program is a small tool designed for copy/move files and folders between different storage medias (hard disks, floppy disks, local networks, CD-ROMs and many other).

Advantages of the program:

  • copying data at rates up to 6-7 times faster than standard MS Windows copying (when copying data from one partiton to another on the same physical hard disk);
  • allow full-control over the copying/moving process by pause, resume, restart and cancel features;
  • fully customizable - over 60 detailed options - from setting language (multiple languages) through auto-resume on error, shutting down system after copying finished to very detailed and technical (customizing copy/move thread - buffer sizes, thread priority, …) ending on sounds on specific events;
  • multiple languages support - and more may appear, since the translation process is quite easy;
  • provides detailed informations about copy/move process (currect file, buffer sizes, priority, progress by size and visual bar, status, current and average speed, time elapsed/left, …);
  • can automatically resume all unfinished operations when system starts;
  • limiting count of simultaneously processing tasks (copyings/movings) - tasks are set into a queue and are processed in order it was inserted into queue;
  • integration with system - adds additional commands to context menus of folders and drag&drop menus;
  • this program is open source - just download and use…

Want to copy big files fast? Meet TeraCopy!

Posted in Software by FoxHound on March 14th, 2008

Every time I need to move big files around in my harddrive, I’m rubbing my head and questioning myself what on earth do M$ engineers had in mind while coding that lame copy system.

Here is my list of cons, probably I forgot some:

  • Can’t pause or resume file copy operation
  • Can’t queue file copy operation
  • Not using bigger buffer when copying to the same HD, hence, killing the HD heads and much slower file copy
  • Not checking for sufficient space BEFORE starting the copy process

One day I’ve decide that that’s enough, and after googling a little, I’ve stumbled upon this little software called TeraCopy.

I’ve given it a chance and I can say that I was amused, as all the cons that I have stated are dealt with TeraCopy in ease, and for free too!

That was too easy :)

Now I can go wild copying from here to there without a worry while TeraCopy just keeps my new requests on queue while processing the first request. saving me time and headache. I can copy a file, pause it because I would like to game a little and continue copying it after I have  finished gaming.

I have to say that there is a paid version of TeraCopy that its main advantage on the free one is, that one can manipulate TeraCopy’s queue.
